Autumn is here! I for one am buzzing. I absolutely love it when the seasons change and my wardrobe gets a refresh. I was putting my summer bits away and bringing some of my autumn bits down from the loft this week and noticed how much my style has changed over the years. More often than not, my pieces are carrying through to the following year now where I’ve found what works for me. I feel I’ve finally let go of needing to fit into every trend going.
It’s a liberating feeling to find the classic styles you love and I think it’s only as I’ve entered my 30’s this has happened. I think it’s so important to remember that just because something is on trend, or perhaps suits someone else, you don’t have to like it or wear it. Your look is exactly that…YOURS. I have a rule now that if something is on trend and I do like it, I’ll spend low. That way if I don’t wear it the following year it’s not as soul destroying! But what I am starting to do is invest a bit more in the classic styles that I know will never die. That way things last longer.
This blazer is an absolute gem. My style can be described as ‘want to look good but don’t want to make a massive effort’. This guy is the one. Work, lunch, drinks, you name it, the blazer’s got your back. I love how you can sling it on with a plain black tee and trousers and transform your look to something special. A great example of a piece that will come back out year after year.
It’s ok to be a little obsessed with trainers! I live in them. Long gone are the days I have interest in having sore feet for fashion. I wear trainers with everything so I always invest in a new pair for the summer months and winter months. These go with everything and I have lived in them since the day they arrived. Perfect for running around after a toddler day in day out let me tell you!
Floaty floral dresses have been one style I’ve found myself going back to. I’m a huge Sienna Miller fan and I think a boho dress is such a lovely effortless look if dressing up is not your thing. This one is great as you can wear it with trainers and bare legs in the warmer months and boots and tights with a chunky cardy or leather jacket when it’s cooler. Another all rounder in my eyes
Lastly, a good knit! I think the the percentage of life I operate in ‘jeans and a jumper’ has jumped to well over 90 since having a child so I’m naturally drawn to easy wear jumpers. This slogan jumper ‘Do What You Love’ sums up exactly what I’m saying in this blog. Clothes have the ability to make us feel great, but only if we wear what WE feel good in. For me, that’s comfort and ease. If you feel good, you will look good. That’s my rule! What’s your go to style? Have you found yours?
